I have started working on where I want to situate certain sculptural pieces, shooting them in what I see as their natural environment. Undine - I have always wanted to shoot at a sea/shore location. I finally managed to get the piece into the right light and location.
The Undine in situ shoot came about from my recollection of why I am fascinated by the forms of the dolphin skull. As a teen back in the mid 80's friends at my local beach found a Bottle nosed Dolphin skeleton after heavy storms washed away some large sandbanks. They managed to collect most of the skeleton and put her back together. I have always assumed the skeleton was a "her" a romantic association of some sort of lost mermaid - hence what I see as Undines re-creation with this piece. Shooting Undine with the dawns sun rising from behind, allows light to pass through ( hence my original installations having the LED lights within), but with a warmer more natural quality.
Occasional updates from me.
