Well the print from Shapeways arrived - its printed in transparent detail, its come out as rather a golden colour with the final print,( I'm really temped to hide a solar powered lamp in the plinth, but unfortunately that wasn't in my original proposal). Its one of biggest single prints that I have done through Shapeways - its just within the limits of their max bounding box 250 × 250 × 200 mm for transparent detail. I did think about printing it larger but in the end the final print size was within the limits and It didn't need to be any bigger for the final installation.
The next big thing is to complete is the base plinth and integration with the AR - expect an update this weekend.

Offering has arrived from the printers Shapeways, I have yet to do some final tweaks on Veil (she failed on print) - the sister work to this piece. I would really love to have Offering and Veil printed in a larger size. The boy was really pleased to open the box from Shapeways - so I took some quick pics of him too.
I have had a busy weekend and from that, some more a new work is now up on my Shapeways shop/space - Offering. Offering is a variation of the pose seen in Veil (a sister work), but with the hidden forms of the skull visible. The skull offered is of a serval cat (Leptailurus serval, a medium-sized African wild cat), which was picked up from my sisters collection in South Africa. Work will be for sale once I have checked my artists proof.
link to Shapeways. Finished Veil - The piece is now up on Shapeways - once I have photographs of the print I will have the piece up for sale - I need to have my artist proofs printed first. For now I have just put up some quick clay renders from modo. Note all my works for sale will be of a limited run. Veil on Shapeways A quick render from in ZBrush - I have updated the Veil, reworked the body with musculature detail and now there is no skull under the cloth.
The sculpt should be finished by tonight and up on Shapeways - I just have to do the technical part to get ready for print now. The print for King and Crown has arrived from Shapeways, my first new work for 2014, pretty pleased with the results - So this morning at about 5:30 AM I took some photos of it down by the river, the light was a little low and I will be taking more to show the semi - opaque quality of the piece - its size in cm is 12.472 w x 12.514 d x 18 h.
Once I have some more neutral studio - like photographs of this piece it will be up for sale on my Shapeways shop. |
